The arguments supporting this type of search engine strategy is the fact that a longer article has a better chance of meeting Google’s LSI requirements to be a relevant pae.
Regardless, the best way to find out if your page is good or not is to simply experiment. We do recommend having some short pages, some long pages, and even using the same keyword in both lengths.
