Why Your Website Needs to Be Mobile Responsive

April 2, 2015

You’ve likely heard a lot about mobile websites. These are website that are accessible on all devices including traditional pcs and laptops, but also tablets and smartphones. Let’s face it. If you are in the middle of a mall looking for a product, you are more likely to go on your phone to look for information about that product than to talk to a sales rep or to walk into any store! That is one of the most important reasons for you to upgrade your site. You need to be able to be visible on all platforms no matter how your traffic is coming into that site. And there’s even more reason to pay attention to this.

You Have Competition

Most websites have dozens of other sites competing with it. You have competitors in your local market as well as an ocean away. In many ways, this should be one of the foundation reasons that you make your website more responsive especially to mobile traffic. How does one thing have to interact with the other?

If your website is not mobile ready, it cannot meet the needs of your visitor. But, there will be another website somewhere that can. If your customer comes to your website using his or her smartphone but cannot access information or make a purchase from it, he or she will move on to the next website without waiting. Often, this is done within 30 seconds. You don’t have time to win them over with another message. In short, if your website is not mobile ready to respond to your visitor, he or she will move on and you’ll lose money in the process.

What You Need to Do

Your website needs to be mobile responsive. What will this do to your site? Here are some key reasons to make the move:

  • It will allow your website to be easily navigated from any device. You are ready for all of your traffic.
  • It will allow your customers to learn the information they need and find what they came to the site to find.
  • It will also provide them with a way to act. This may be to call you (with easy to use features to make it possible to just click and go) and it will give them a way to email or even buy directly from you.

Mobile responsiveness really is not an option for most websites any longer. Sites that are not ready for this type of interaction are going to find customers struggling to interact. You may lose business this way. You will lose traffic in this manner. For all of these reasons, it is time for you to take the step to upgrade your site. It can be one of the best investments you can make since the use of handheld, Internet-access tools are simply going to increase in the future. It is a move that will continue to pay off for you for years to come.
